Welcome back
Greetings everyone! I do hope you have enjoyed the months since our amazing Mozart Requiem in May. I am excited about the season ahead as our numbers grow and the repertoire gets more adventurous, without leaving anyone behind!
WHAT'S NEW?
Music: We are broadening our ambitions this term with two pieces by the Argentinian composerAriel Ramirez https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ariel_Ram%C3%ADrez
Navidad nuestra and Misa Criolla are a folk drama of the nativity and a folk mass, based on the rhythms and traditions of Hispanic America, both composed in the 1960s. The music is not difficult, the challenges are singing Spanish and sounding as authentic as possible!
We will be supported by a band playing traditional instruments, prepared by Francisco Correa,a professional guitarist from Bristol, who is preparing the instrumental score of theNavidad specially for our concert! He is also leading a workshop with us on October 18.

To stay connected with our more traditional repertoire, the Christmas concert will also featureFantasia on Christmas carols by Vaughan Willams, together with some traditional English folk carols and customary seasonal fare.
The spring concert in May will be the Verdi Requiem in a new version with two pianos, organ and percussion - very exciting.
There will be two workshops this term, one in November open to everyone, and one in October for ECS only led by Francisco. They will both be in The Mint, Fore St, Exeter, which is a more flexible space for the activity.
WHAT'S NOT NEW?!
We still rehearse in Palace Gate, continue to sit in our open square formation, devote ten minutes to warming up each week, and perform in St David's at Christmas!
I will write to you each week with support notes, you will practice, and everyone will enjoy themselves, as usual!
Hurrah - SO looking forward to it, see you soon.
Best wishes,
Peter
