Exeter Choral Society is a friendly non-auditioning, mixed-voice choir; we perform two concerts each year with professional soloists and musicians. We are a registered charity (number 1110060).
The Trustees regret that, in the light of Government advice, it was prudent to cancel face-to-face rehearsals in Spring 2020 and to postpone our May 2020 concert.
We are very grateful to Laurence Blyth for leading singing sessions for choir members via Zoom since Autumn 2020. We are continuing some of these sessions into Summer 2021, although we plan to resume in-person rehearsals when it is safe and legal to do so.
Meanwhile, we have expanded our repertoire, learning Durufle Requiem and Mozart Missa Brevis K275.
Next up is our AGM and some singing on Tuesday 29 June; we have provisional plans to start our Autumn sessions on 7 September and to hold a singing morning in October. We'd love to see all of our members there and some new ones too!
All current choir members should receive occasional email updates from the choir - if you have not had these, please check your Spam folder or contact the Secretary, to ensure that she has your correct email address, using the Contact Us form.
In normal circumstances, we rehearse in central Exeter at the Palace Gate Centre (South Street Baptist Church), Exeter EX1 1JA
on Tuesday evenings (September to May) at 7.15 pm until 9.00 pm.
New to the area? Always wanted to join a choir, or just fancy giving singing a go? Then come along and try Exeter Choral Society.
New members are very welcome to join our friendly choir. Please contact us if you would like to join us, either whilst we rehearse via Zoom or when we restart in-person rehearsals, so that we can provide you with more information. No auditions are necessary, but some sight reading ability is helpful. Membership, in normal times, is £40 per term (or £35 for full-time students with a valid NUS card).
