Laurence Blyth was educated at Norwich School and after holding a three year organ scholarship to study with the late Kenneth Ryder he took up a Choral Scholarship as a countertenor at Truro Cathedral. Laurence read music at the University of Exeter, graduation in 2007, and whilst there held a Choral Scholarship at Exeter Cathedral as well as a University Music Scholarship. Through his leadership of the University Singers, Laurence worked with most of the major music societies on campus and is still involved in student life as conductor of Exeter University Brass Ensemble.

Soon after graduating, Laurence held the prestigious position of "Master of the Chapel Choir at Bramdean School" and from September 2008 will be the Musical Director of Exeter Choral Society. He has taken part in classes with James Ottoway, Ashley Stafford and Jonathan Peter Kenny, sang a duet with James Bowman and in 2007 took part in a week of masterclasses with Emma Kirkby at Dartington, supported by the Heathcote Trust. He is a Lay Vicar in Exeter Cathedral Choir and performs widely as a soloist and ensemble singer through out the South West.
